What Is the Church Like?
Whenever people encounter a church for the first time they usually wonder “what is this church like?” There are three words that describe what we desire to be true of the Anchor:
Authenticity We’re not much interested in religious ritual and trappings. We want to have a real encounter with and experience of the living God, and we long for others to have those things as well. Our desire is for all of us to know God’s greatness, his goodness and his presence in a real way both in our daily individual lives and in our life as a community together.
Grace We desire that every person in our church would experience the freedom and the power that comes from experiencing God’s grace and kindness, which are delivered to us through his Son, Jesus Christ. We want that grace to then inform all of our relationships with each other and with the world around us.
Love Our aim is that our community would be characterized by the same kind of unconditional love that God continually pours out in our lives. Experiencing his love sh ould and does empower us to love each other and infuse our fellowship with great joy. This love will cause us to reach out to bring God’s grace and love to the lost and suffering world around us.
